Colombo (News 1st): A group of Buddhist monks met UNP party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe at Sirikotha today (December 20). The Theros attached to the UNP had been asked to arrive at the party headquarters today. However, Venerable Mathurata Dhammalankara Thera who had arrived at Sirikotha was not granted permission to attend the meeting.
Ven. Mathurata Dhammalankara Thero:  There are statements that the UNP lost because of a low number of Buddhist votes. Therefore, the Buddhist monks should take responsibility for obtaining Buddhist votes. They have formed an alliance as the 'UNP Bhikku Front'.This group has restricted me from attending their meetings. They have done this because I speak the truth directly. Journalist: Is there a discussion going on right now? Ven. Mathurata Dhammalankara Thero: There is a discussion and it is a lie. All those discussions are done to defeat Sajith. They are trying to ruin Sajith. They are trying to stop Sajith's political career. Champika is a good Buddhist politician. Now he has been remanded. These people put him into that situation.
