Lane closed due to new Kelani Bridge construction

Colombo (News 1st): The Ministry of Roads and Highways Development has announced that one lane operating towards Colombo on the Colombo-Kandy Road will be shut temporarily to complete the construction of the New Kelani Bridge and the Connection of the Colombo-Katunayake Highway Bridge. The closure is set to continue till January 20th. As a result, heavy vehicles travelling to Colombo can use the Kadawatha interchange towards Kerawalapitiya, and then the Colombo-Katunayake highway to travel South towards Peliyagoda from where they can use the Puttalam road through the Nawaloka roundabout to enter Colombo through the Japan Friendship Bridge. Vehicles can also ply via the Sugathadasa Stadium to Kotahena and Colombo. All vehicles that cannot use the highway can come to Wattala and then proceed to Colombo through the Japan Friendship Bridge. All vehicles travelling from other areas are encouraged to avoid using areas that are congested.
