COLOMBO (News 1st)-Today(December 18) former Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka called on the Chief Prelate of the Malwatte Chapter of the Siam Sect and the Chief Prelate of the Ramanya Sect. He added that he was the person who should press charges however they are attempting to press charges and destroy his reputation in order to end his political career. Consequently, Patali Champika Ranawaka called on the Anunayake of the Malwatte Chapter of the Siam Sect, Most Ven. Dimbulkumbure Wimaladamma Thero. The former minister showed an affidavit written by the victim claiming that it was his fault as he was not able to control his bike due to excess speed. Most Ven. Dimbulkumbure Wimaladamma Thero claimed that talented lawyers could make the truth appear as false. The former minister then arrived at the Hurikaduwa Vidya Sagara Pirivena in Menikhinna and called on the Mahanayake of the Ramnya Sect, Most Ven. Napanee Premasiri Thero. Hurikaduwe Pawawara Sri Thero, Committee Member of Ramnya Sect noted that they saw a future for the former minister as he had always been with Maha Sangha. Patali Champika Ranawaka then addressed the media. UNP MP Patali Champika Ranawaka stated that this case was taken before the court a few years ago and he has been acquitted from it while his driver was fined for it. He questioned how the case was reopened and added that it is intended to intimidate their drivers and changing evidence to arrest them.
