Colombo (News 1st): The Police are to record a statement from the Director of the CID regarding IP Nishantha Silva’s departure overseas without approved leave.

The Special Investigations Unit of the Police Headquarters said, the statement would be recorded as part of the comprehensive investigation which is being carried out into the incident. The SIU said statements from around 20 officials of the CID have been recorded to date.

Among those who have provided statements, is the Former Director of the CID, SSP Shani Abeysekara.  The SIU added it would obtain a report from the Department of Immigration and Emigration regarding this matter as well.
