COLOMBO (News 1st) - Ganier Banister Francis, the Swiss Embassy employee who was allegedly abducted by an unidentified group, has been summoned to the Criminal Investigation Department once again tomorrow for further questioning. The Criminal Investigation Department has been questioning Francis over the last 3 days under the permission of the Colombo Magistrate's Court. While a statement is set to be recorded tomorrow as well, the Magistrate has requested that the court be updated on the state of the investigations tomorrow. Meanwhile, the attention of the Government's Party Leaders' meeting had also been directed to this issue. Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, General Secretary of the United Peoples' Freedom Alliance noted that this is a conspiracy and they only have to find the perpetrators behind this fabrication. Journalist: What is President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's view on this matter? Minister Mahinda Amaraweera responded that the President bears a similar view regarding the matter and there is evidence and they could prove this entire scenario is a fabrication. Minister of Foreign Relations, Dinesh Gunawardena shared his thoughts regarding the matter as well. Journalist: Now there are reports saying that the Swiss Ambassador has been recalled. Are you aware of this? Minister Dinesh Gunawardena stated that a country could always recall their Ambassadors at any time. He added that it could be in relation to any official business. News 1st made an inquiry from the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs FDFA regarding these reports. A spokesperson for the Swiss FDFA said 'This information is not accurate.' The spokesperson further said the Swiss Ambassador to Sri Lanka is currently fulfilling his duties in Colombo.
