Two arrested for defrauding money using the President's name

Colombo (News 1st): Details of a group that used the name of the President to defraud money promising state sector jobs has been revealed. Issuing a release, the President's media unit stated that two individuals have been arrested in connection to this matter. The Police had received reports of a group of individuals carrying out this scam, claiming that they have close links with the President. Following investigations, Nihal Dassanayake, a resident of Rajanganaya, and Nuwan Jayakody, a resident of Sevanagala, have been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department in Colombo. The President's media unit release claims that the arrest had been made following a sting operation opposite the Education Ministry. Senior Deputy Inspector General of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon stated that if the public has any further information on any such matters, that they should inform the authorities on 071 5 891 017, 011 2 662 323 or 071 8 591 727.
