Sales representative sentenced for 7 years due to fraud

COLOMBO(News 1st) - A sales representative of a private firm was sentenced to 07 years of rigorous imprisonment for committing fraud by purchasing maize and fish food and issuing a cheque with a value of Rs 322,000 from an account with zero balance. Colombo High Court Judge ordered the accused to pay a fine of Rs 100,000 as well. In addition, the accused was ordered to pay Rs 1mn  as compensation to the firm which was defrauded and if the accused fails to pay compensation, he would have to serve an additional two more years in prison.
