COLOMBO (News 1st) – National Organizer of the All Ceylon Farmers Federation Namal Karunaratne noted yesterday (December 06) that 100,000 acres of land belonging to the farmers have been destroyed due to the prevalent inclement weather condition.
He added that the maize farmers in Ampara have been severely affected.
He went on to note that before the elections, the farmers were promised fertilizer subsidies and now the farmers are waiting for the subsidies.
He added that the farmers needed to be informed about how these subsidies will be provided to them and the government has avoided this topic.
