Clinical waste gathering at the Karapitiya Hospital

Colombo (News 1st) - The Hospital Committee of the Karapitiya Hospital alleges that 12 containers of clinical waste have been sitting within the hospital premises over a number of days. The Chairman of the Committee, Palitha Amarawardena stated that it has created difficulty for the hospital in carrying out its day to day activities. Around 650 to 700 Kilogrammes of clinical waste is generated by the hospital every day. While Newsfirst tried to contact Hospital Director Dr. Sampath Ranaweera, our efforts proved futile.
