COLOMBO (News 1st) – State Minister of Industries Dayasiri Jayasekara assumed duties today at the Ministry premises in Colpetty.
The event was attended by the National Organiser of the SLFP State Minister Duminda Dissanayake, Senior Deputy Chairman, Nimal Siripala de Silva, General Secretary of the UPFA Minister Mahinda Amaraweera and many other seniors of the SLFP.
The State Minister attended a media briefing after assuming duties.
Journalist: The entire nation and many party supporters expected you to be given an important portfolio in the cabinet. However, you might have to wait 3 more months for that.
Dayasiri Jayasekara, State Minister of Industries stated that he would not bear any grudges for that and would only be hardened when they face obstacles as such.
He shared that they did support Gotabaya Rajapaksa as a party and it won’t change.
State Minister further added that they have not been even provided with a vehicle and they are yet to expect a vehicle from the Presidential Secretariat.
State Minister went on to note that they still have three and a half months to decide their party symbol and they have discussed the abolishing of the 19th amendment, however they have not come to a definite decision.
Questions were raised regarding the future political plans of former President Maithripala Sirisena.
Dayasiri Jayasekara noted that the former President Maithripala Sirisena would not attend parliament for the next three months and they intend to make him their party leader for the upcoming general election.
He added that the former president has a clean reputation and he would be a strength to them.
