Inclement weather causes power outages in several areas

COLOMBO(News 1st) - Power disruptions in several areas have been reported due to the prevailing weather condition. Our correspondents said certain areas are still experiencing the power outage. News 1st spoke to Sulakshana Jayawardena, the media spokesperson of the ministry of power in this regard. Sulakshana Jayawardena said that they are aware of the power disruptions in several areas including Diyatalawa, Balangoda, Haputale, Bandarawela, Ruwanwella and Kurunegala. He added that they have taken the necessary steps to restore power in these areas. He further added that the power supply to more than 5000 consumers have been disrupted and they would attempt to restore power within the day however the extreme weather condition is hindering the process.
