Several MPs appointed as chairpersons of District Development Councils

Colombo (News 1st) – A number of MPs were appointed as Chairpersons of the respective District Development Councils. The letters of appointment were handed over to the appointees by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. Sriyani Wijewickrama, Sumedha G. Jayasena, Weerakumara Dissanayake, Sudharashani Fernandopulle, Dunesh Gankanda, Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Thenuka Vidanagamage, Piyal Nishantha, Chandima Weerakkody, Dushmantha Mithrapala and Lakshman Wasantha Perera have been appointed as District Development Committee Chairpersons. They considered their appointments as blessings and they would work hard to do justice to the people who gave their mandate. MP Namal Rajapaksa expressed these views to the media following the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed State and Deputy ministers. UPFA MP Namal Rajapaksa noted that in a way that they have State and Deputy Ministers with a combination of both old and young ministers. He added that with this new combination they plan to go on a new journey with a new direction. "Journalist: Do you want a ministerial portfolio? Do you expect one? Will you be given one?" MP Namal Rahapasa responded that he did not expect one at all and will not expect in the future as well.
