COLOMBO(News 1st) – Dr Harsha de Silva has stepped down from office as the non-cabinet minister of Economic Reforms and Public Distribution.
In a letter addressed to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, he said that he had resigned so the President could appoint a person of his choice, suitable for the position.
In his letter, Dr De Silva made an important request from the President to place the 1990 Suwa Seriya Foundation under the purview of the President and strengthen the service.
With Dr Harsha De Silva’s resignation, a total of 9 ministers have left the government.
The others are : Patali Champika Ranawaka , Ashok Abeysinghe , Mangala Samaraweera , Kabir Hashim , Malik Samarawickrama , Ruwan Wijewardena , Harin Fernando and Ajith P Perera.
