Both local and foreign election observers have begun supervising the activities of the Presidential elections 2019. Commissioner-General of the National Elections Commission, Saman Sri Rathnayake states that 17 foreign observers are currently engaging in election observing activities.

These are the forms of identification that will be accepted at the polling center.

  • National Identity Card (NIC)
  • Valid Passport
  • Valid driving license
  • Identity card issued to clergy
  • Government pensioners’ identity card
  • Senior citizens’ identity card
  • Temporary identity card issued by the Election Commission

Polls are now open for the 2019 Presidential election. Polling centers will remain open till 5 pm today.

15,992,096 individuals have been deemed eligible to cast their votes during the election.
