Colombo (News 1st): The efforts by President Maithripala Sirisena to crack down on the drug menace in order to make the society a better place, was appreciated by the Maha Sangha. These views were expressed by the Maha Sanga during a discussion with President Maithripala Sirisena at the President’s office.
The Expert Panel on the Thripitakaya’s Admission to the World Memory Register, Thripitaka Conservation Board, Buddhist Advisory board, Buddhist Intelligence board and Venerable Theros representing All Island Shasanarakshaka board were present at the discussion.
The Presidential Media Unit stated that the Maha Sangha appreciated the President’s contribution towards the Sambuddha Sasana making Tripitaka a national heritage. The Maha Sangha had pointed out that the President had also played an important role in uplift Dhamma education in the country.
President Maithripala Sirisena noted that many countries in the world have developed because, despite the change in officials, their plans and principles do not change. He said they all know that Buddhist philosophy is not altered by national policies or plans, therefore, whoever comes to power, he believes this program will be taken forward. He added that they are especially dedicated to the blessing of the respected Maha Sangha.
