Bars closed on the 16th and 17th

Colombo (News 1st) - The excise department has announced that all bars and liqour stores will remain closed on the 16th and 17th of this month. The decision has been taken based on a request extended by the National Elections Commission. Thereby the sale, transport, and possession of alcohol will be banned on the said days. The excise department noted that legal action will be taken against individuals that violate these regulations. The department noted that around 1000 officers will be deployed to monitor the enforcement of these regulations.
