Colombo (News 1st): 08 people arrested by Police for stealing and selling three-wheelers were remanded until November 19th by the Hultsdorf Number 04 Magistrates Court. The Grandpass Police was tipped-off over a racket involving three-wheeler thefts and sale, and on November 1st, a man from Sedawatte had filed a complaint about his missing three-wheeler.
CCTV footage obtained by the police showed, a group of men arriving in a three-wheeler, hot-wiring the stolen three-wheeler and taking it away. Thereafter, the police were tipped-off that the three-wheeler in question was located at a garage in Ganemulla and on the 12th the owner of the garage and 07 others were arrested.
During the raid police recovered, 27 three-wheelers, 04 motorcycles, 04 three-wheeler engines, and 12 number plates. Sri Lanka Police said this racket had been taking place over a long period of time.
