COLOMBO(News 1st) – A heroin trafficker was killed in police fire this afternoon, when he attempted to flee in Karapitiya, Galle.

Police Spokesperson SSP Ruwan Gunasekera speaking to News 1st said that the suspect was arrested last evening by the Police Narcotics Bureau opposite the Galle Municipal Council for the possession of 33.6g of heroin.

The 34-year-old man was a resident of Poddala.

According to the Police, this afternoon, when the suspect was taken to the Judicial Medical Officer, he attempted to flee forcing PNB Officers to open fire.

The injured suspect succumbed to his injuries at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.
