Colombo (News 1st) - 5 suspects including an SLPP Pradeshiya Sabha member were arrested for assaulting a female UNP member of the Reedimaliyedda Pradeshiya Sabha in Mahiyanganaya on Sunday (Nov 10).According to the Police, the arrested SLPP PS member has been identified as Sisira Kumara Bandara Police said a group who attended an SLPP rally, assaulted the UNP Pradeshiya Sabha member and vandalized the store she owns in North Thissapura, Ridimaliyedda. D.M. Rasika Dilrukshi, who was assaulted, resided in North Thissapura and is a mother of 5. The injured Pradeshiya Sabha member was admitted to the Mahiyanganaya Base Hospital.   Meanwhile, parliamentarian Rohini Kumari was also subject to an attack last evening. Speaking to the media the Matale district MP noted that an individual attempted to attack her from behind while she was addressing a meeting in Laggala. She noted that her security details managed to push the assailant away and that afterwards the assailant grabbed the microphone and expressed his support for Gotabaya Rajapaksa. The MP noted that individuals of this nature would never commit such brazen acts unless they had political backing. She also noted that she had received information afterwards that a PS member from the area had been in the area when she was attacked. Investigations are underway in this regard.
