Colombo (News 1st): A meeting in support of the presidential candidate of the National People's Power Anura Kumara Dissanayake was held in Gampaha yesterday (November 10). The meeting was held opposite the Gampaha bus stand yesterday. Speaking at the meeting Anura Kumara Dissanayake said;
"You would have seen people applauding when someone is speaking on stage. But for the first time in Sri Lanka we saw people hooting and jeering at the people who speak on stage. Did you see, they even hooted at Mahinda Rajapaksa. Then he says we should not hold a meeting in Dambadeniya in the evening, we should hold meetings here in the mornings. He said this while speaking to the people who they brought. On another stage I saw a person saying that the LTTE murdered many of their leaders and destroyed the UNP, then the supporters at the rally cheered. Then the speaker asks them not to cheer. But this is the only stage that people actively listen to. There is a person who does not feel the emotions of the people. He always promises people to give something at all times. Also, you have us who are representing you to build this country. We are in front when considering other teams who are representing people. So we believe this campaign is more than enough for the people to take the decision."
Promotional Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Vitjitha Herath adding to this said the people are hooting at the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. He noted that however, the grandson of D. S. Senanayake, Wasantha Senanayake of the UNP got on to Rajapaksa's stage in Polonnaruwa. He went onto note that people cheer and carry him on their shoulders when a UNP minister got on to their stage with a green cap, making him stand next to Gotabaya Rajapaksa. He questioned the people of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party; "don't you feel ashamed about this situation?" He said the jeering was not for Dayasiri not for John, but for the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and that party does not deserve that. He questioned; "can you watch this from your eyes and listen from your ears any longer and remain in that party?" He said fathers and mothers who have a conscience in the Sri Lanka Freedom Party can not do that.
