Ven. Inguruwatte Sumagala thero demands Gotabya's citizenship status to be cleared

Colombo (News 1st): The fast commenced by Venerable (Dr.) Inguruwatte Sumangala Thero, demanding that Gotabaya Rajapaksa's Citizenship status be cleared, continued for the second day today (November 11). The Venerable Thero began his fast yesterday (November 10) demanding that evidence be provided with regard to the state of Gotabaya Rajapaksa's citizenship within three days. A number of groups including the Maha Sangha arrived at Independence Square to check up on the Venerable Thero. Speaking to the media Venerable (Dr.) Inguruwatte Sumangala Thero noted that it is dangerous to choose certain individuals at Presidential elections with no long term vision. He noted that it must be understood that if Gotabaya Rajapaksa is not an American citizen he must kindly present these documents to him through the American Embassy. The thero noted that if he is going to ignore these requests, he is ready to sacrifice his life. Meanwhile, a tense situation occurred when a woman showed up at the location requesting the Thero not to pander to either side and to stand together for the Country. A man who arrived there with her also questioned Thero if he wasn't there when the 5 bombs went off in 5 hours. The Police then got involved and removed the individual from the area. Meanwhile the Mahanayake Thero of the Sri Lanka Swejin Sect, The Most Ven. Induruwatte Piyananda Thero and a group of Theros arrived at the location. A number of activists connected to the Inter-University Students' Federation, including its Convener Maheel Bandara, arrived at the scene of the fast. They pledged their support to Inguruwatte Sumangala Thero and conducted a silent protest.
