COLOMBO (News 1st):- Various comments were made about the future of Sri Lanka Freedom Party at the SLFP District meeting of women activists held in Angunukolapelessa this morning (November 10). The meeting was chaired by the General Secretary of the UPFA Mahinda Amaraweera.

Addressing the meeting he said that he is not someone who entered into politics with a political background because his father is someone who worked very hard and did not even attend a single meeting in the village. He goes onto say that he could come this far in life because of the connection the SLFP had with the villages and since the party was never restricted to only the elites.

Meanwhile the Electoral Organizer of the SLFP, Upali Mohotti also speaking at this meeting said that they are proud that the Minister was able to bring the party this far. He further said that on the 16th of November when they make Gotabaya Rajapaksa the President and Mahinda Rajapaksa the Prime Minister that there is one last thing that they will do. The electoral organizer says that when President Maithripala Sirisena retires from the SLFP, that Mahinda Amaraweera will be appointed as the leader of the party.
