This was proven recently during a public rally in Angoda. When they asked the public what they wanted, the people had replied saying, they wanted an elephant fence. This was even telecast in the media. Why would the locals in Angoda want an elephant fence? We will construct the alternative Ududumbara Pitadunna route. The Seetha Kotuwa in Meemure, Pitadunna will be made a tourist zone, and this area will be developed. Rauff Hakeem, Minister of City Planning, Water Supply & Higher Education noted that on behalf of the Muslim community they are prepared to ensure that another extremist attack would not occur in the future again. He went on to note that they will play the role of security officers, and ensure such extremists will not raise its head again. The second rally which Presidential Candidate of the New Democratic Front Sajith Premadasa attended, was held in Kandaketiya. Sajith Premadasa received a warm welcome from those present at the rally. A group including Minister Harin Fernando and provincial politicians also attended the event. Sajith Premadasa: "We have to protect our senior citizens. We should be grateful to them. Therefore, we will increase the allowance given to senior citizens from Rs 2,000 to 3,000 and also provide them with social security. We will treat the state workers well. We will also take care of pensioners. When you make me your President on the 16th as the person who understands the strife of the masses in our country, I will certainly implement all the projects I have listed out in my manifesto."
