Colombo (News 1st): Postmaster General Ranjith Ariyaratne states, the distribution of official postal ballot papers has been disrupted due to heavy rains. He further stated that he had requested the Elections Commission to provide postmen with raincoats to overcome obstructions caused by rain.
Postmaster General Ranjith Ariyaratne said around 9,000 postmen have been deployed to distribute the official postal ballot papers. Meanwhile, the Department of Posts says, it will cost Rs. 8400 million to forward the election manifestos of Presidential Candidates by post.
Postmaster General Ranjith Ariyaratne said the policy statements of some candidates have already been sent via post.
