COLOMBO(News 1st) – Member of the Elections Commission Ratnajeevan Hoole expressed that the citizens of the country should be mindful of the second and third preferential votes when casting their votes at the presidential election. He expressed these views at a conference held in Jaffna yesterday (October 27).
Prof. Rathnajeewan Hoole stated that the citizens are entitled with 3 optional preferential votes and the voter must be mindful to mark the numbers 1, 2 and 3 for the votes to be legal.
According to him, no candidate would win with the 1st vote and therefore the citizens should be wise with their 2nd and 3rd preferential votes as it might be key in deciding the future of this country.
