Colombo (News 1st): Presidential Candidate of the National People’s Power Movement Anura Kumara Dissanayake addressed a rally in Akkaraipattu yesterday (October 24). JVP activists and local government representatives were among the attendees of the event. Speaking at the event Presidential Candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake noted that Mahinda Rajapaksa’s government had Champika Ranawaka, Wimal Weerawansa, Rauff Hakeem, Rishad Bathiudeen, Thondaman, Douglas Devananda, and Athaulla. He noted that all of them sat around one table and robbed together and they all wasted money together and then they ask the general public to fight amongst each other. He pointed out that none of them need to fight with each other again. He said if someone is asking you to fight with someone, firstly, Wimal Weerawansa and Rishad Bathiudeen should be brought to Galle Face and asked to fight against each other. He said even though they act as if they are divided, they are good friends who steal together. Therefore, he noted that they will not allow any conflicts or hatred to take root in the country again. Anura Kumara Dissanayake stressed that they will create national unity in this country and the government that they form will provide equal protection to all citizens of the country. He added that when the Rajapaksa regime was defeated in 2015, Basil Rajapaksa fled to America, Gotabaya Rajapaksa gave the elephants that he had at home to the army and hid his tank of sharks at his residence in Mirihana and Mahinda Rajapaksa handed over the Sri Lanka Freedom Party to Maithripala Sirisena within a week. He said they did that because they were afraid. Dissanayake said Maithripala Sirisena told him that he (Maithripala) met Namal Rajapaksa at the residence of Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa, shaking in January 2015. He questioned; ” Who nourished them? How did Basil come to Sri Lanka from America? How does Gotabaya Rajapaksa who should be in jail still out in the open? How is Namal Rajapaksa who stole public property, free?”
