COLOMBO(News 1st) - JVP Parliamentarian Bimal Ratnayake expressed these views about the percentage of floating votes and the new voters at the election. JVP MP  Bimal Ratnayake noted that to win an election we need money, you need a large voter base, a government mechanism, and a personal image. If we compare Mahinda Rajapaksa and Maithripala Sirisena, Maithripala Sirisena didn't have any of them; but he won the election. He added that there are only 42 block votes to be seen and if they add 100,000 votes that will become 430,000. Then how did he get 620,000 votes?? He got it from the floating voters. They are the true treasure of the election. We are working while placing our belief in those people. Both the candidates from the UNP and the Pohottuwa themselves accept the fact that they cannot get the required 50% of votes without these floating votes. The prime minister said that Sajith Premadasa cannot win with only the votes of the UNP supporters. A few months back Basil Rajapaksa spoke with the leader of our party and said that they have a maximum of 44% of the vote, and asked if they can get the second vote of the JVP. We told him that the JVP voters do not even give us a preferential vote, they only vote for the symbol so we told them that this cannot happen. So they know that it is hard to get the required 50% of the vote.
