Colombo (News 1st): The Constitutional Council has approved to appoint Saman Sri Rathnayake as the Commissioner-General of the National Elections Commission. The NEC said the appointment was made with immediate effect.

Rathnayake had previously been serving as the Director-General of the NEC.
