Colombo (News 1st): Cabinet approval has been granted to appoint a committee to transform the Department of Railways to a closed and an inclusive department and to study the proposals of the salary structure of the department.

A senior official at the Ministry of Public Administration, Disaster Management and Livestock Development will be chairing the committee.

Earlier, Cabinet approval was granted to make the Department of Railways a closed and an inclusive department and to form a suitable salary structure for its officials.

The committee will implement the proposals, reduce the practical issues that could emerge and present the recommendations needed to implement those proposals.
