Colombo (News 1st) – The Department of Fisheries states that they have begun talks to secure the release of 24 Sri Lankan fishermen who are currently in Indian custody. According to officials at the department the discussions are being held through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
18 fishermen who set out to sea from Jaffna and 6 fishermen who set out to sea from Matara are currently in Indian custody. Meanwhile, 11 Indian fishermen are currently in the custody of Sri Lankan officials.
