COLOMBO (News 1st)  A former police sergeant found guilty of seriously molesting a boy under the age of 14 back in 2006 was sentenced to 14 years and 06 months of rigorous imprisonment by North Central Province High Court Judge Sahan Mapa Bandara today (October 14).

The indictment against the defendant was filed at the Anuradhapura High Court.

In addition, the court ordered the defendant to pay Rs 50,000 as compensation to the victim and failure to do so, would add another 06 months to the prison sentence.
