Inmate shot while attempting to escape

Colombo (News 1st): A prison officer shot at a suspect who was trying to escape from his prison cell through its roof at the Kekirawa Magistrate's Court. Police said the 41-year-old suspect, who sustained injuries to his left leg, is currently receiving treatment at the Anuradhapura Hospital under the security of prison guards. Police said the suspect had escaped from prison in 2017 as well. The suspect was arrested by the Galkiriyagama Police and produced before the Kekirama Magistrate yesterday.
