COLOMBO (News 1st) – Based on a controversial statement made previously, Madumadawa Aravinda, has resigned from all positions he held within the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya.

This was announced by party leader Udaya Gammanpila during a media briefing today(October 10). Udaya Gammanpila noted that Madumadawa Aravinda acknowledges his mistake and resigned from all posts he held within the party, including the post of deputy leader.

He added that if he was not to resign willingly punishment would be to remove him from the party. He shared that no other party has ever conducted an inquiry against a member with regard to the hate speech. He added that however, they had carried out an inquiry over the matter.

He went on to note that Madhumadawa Aravinda is a humble person as he resigned from his position after accepting his mistake instead of attempting to remain in the position.
