SLPP presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa visits Matara

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A special convention of the Sri Lanka Communist Party was held at the Uyanwatte grounds in Matara today (October 08) and the chief guest at the convention was Presidential Candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Leader of SLPP Mahinda Rajapaksa and several members of the Communist party also attended the event. Gotabaya Rajapaksa noted that the development plan of the SLPP does not limit to a certain level of society and added that an economic plan will be implemented to uplift the lives of everyone. He went on to note that a large number of people suffer poverty and a development model was necessary to revive the living conditions of the people. Gotabaya Rajapaksa noted that a number of ministers give a number of assurances, however, they do not state how they would deliver them. He added that to reduce unemployment, the government needs a plan to create job opportunities. Presidential candidate stated that they consulted experts and professionals and went to the people and identified the issues which discomfort them. He added that they have come up with plans to resolve them and he will implement them. Mahinda Rajapaksa, Leader of the SLPP noted that the existing government attempted to sell all the resources in the country. He added that the government destroyed everything they built in the last 5 years. He went on to note that to make matters worse they risked national security. Mahinda Rajapaksa finally added that they firmly stand on a decision and went on to note that the people will support them to move forward.
