Police to secure 06 day detention order for heroin suspects

Colombo (News 1st): According to the Police, they hope to obtain a 6-day detion order for the suspects who were arrested at the Athurugiriya interchange of the Southern Expressway along with 50kg of heroin. The two suspects are believed to be major racketeers and the Police believe that they had been engaged in the operation over an extended period of time. Police investigations have revealed that the drugs had been transported from Kadawatha to Athurugiriya. Police added that investigations are underway to ascertain if the suspects had hidden similar consignments of heroin at other locations and their telephone records are also being scrutinized. The luxury SUV that the suspects traveled in has also been seized by the police. The suspects are 38-year-old residents of Borella and Nugegoda. The value of the stock is estimated to be in excess of Rs. 50 Million.
