Two accidents occur at the same location

Colombo (News 1st): One person died and another was severely injured in an accident that occurred in Ambagaswewa along the Minneriya - Habarana main road. Police said a motorcycle travelling from Habarana to Minneriya collided with a container truck travelling in the opposite direction. Two people were travelling on the motorbike, one of them died at the scene. The deceased is a father of three and was a 39 year resident of Alawwa. The injured person was rushed to the Habarana district hospital and was later transferred to the Dambulla General Hospital for further treatment. Police said the driver of the container truck was arrested. Meanwhile, another accident occurred along the same road several hours later. According to the News 1st correspondent in the area, a bus and a three-wheeler collided, injuring a 56-year-old woman travelling in the three-wheeler. She was rushed to the Dambulla General Hospital. Residents of the area said the road is prone to accidents due to heavy rainfall prevalent in the area.
