Legal measures against protesting railway employees

COLOMBO (News 1st):- The Ministry of Transport says that legal measures will be taken under the essential public services ordinance regarding the railway trade union workers who are currently engaging in the strike action. Secretary of the Ministry, L. P. Jayampathi requested all the workers to report to work promptly as all leaves have been canceled. He further said that all employees who have decided to report to work will be provided with the necessary security. On the night of the 3rd of December, a gazette was issued declaring the railway service, an essential service. The Secretary further says that in order to begin discussions on this matter the employees should first report to work.
