Colombo (News 1st): An incident where a 56-year-old man fell victim to a crocodile attack was reported from Matara. The resident of the Kotuwegoda, Matara was subjected to the attack when he had gone to bathe in the Nilwala River at around 7 pm on the 28th of September, 2019.
Relations note that they witnessed the man being taken away by the crocodile. News 1st correspondent in the area added that the body of the 56-year-old father of one has still not been discovered.
Residents say that there is a risk of crocodiles reaching the land due to the high level of water in the river. They note that when the water level increases by about 5-6 feet the crocodiles reach the land with ease.
