PM suggested Sajith's name: Lakshman Kiriella

Colombo (News 1st): Following views were expressed by a number of MPs from the UNP on the appointment of Minister Sajith Premadasa as the UNP Presidential candidate. Minister Lakshman Kiriella noted that even Tissa Attanayaka has been invited. He noted that his joining the party is a great pillar of strength and they are glad. He noted that it was the Prime Minister who suggested Sajith Premadasa's name and from that point, everything is decided. He said that they reflect the unity inside their party, their victory is certain. Meanwhile, Mayor Daljith Aluwihare noted that it is a great privilege that they got the opportunity to present a presidential candidate from the UNP. He said Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had to obey the power of the grassroots level people and it's through that Sajith Premadasa came forward. He added that he is glad that the Prime Minister and others had to appoint the candidate that the people requested. UNP MP Bandula Lal Bandarigoda also commented that the largest public rally with the highest number of participants will be held on the 10th of next month at Galle Face Green. He noted that they will present their presidential candidate at the rally, and will not only invite the SLFP, but also those from the SLPP who rather had no choice but to accept the candidate presented by a family. He added that those who are against family politics will also join them on that day.
