COLOMBO (News 1st) The Presidential Commission probing into the alleged financial irregularities in state institutions for the past four years have requested President Maithripala Sirisena to extend the commission’s tenure by another month due to ongoing investigations on several cases.
The President appointed this committee on January 22nd this year to look into the alleged financial irregularities in state institutions from the period 2015 to 2018. Although its tenure was supposed to end on July 22nd, the President extended its tenure by another one and a half months.
Investigations have commenced on 22 complaints received so far at the commission while investigations on certain other complaints have already ended.
