COLOMBO (News 1st):- The Criminal Investigations Department today (September 27) arrested another suspect connected to the Avant-Garde Floating Armoury Case when he returned to the island from Singapore early this morning.
The suspect, retired Commodore Vishwajith Nandana Diyabalanage, is a resident of Rajagiriya and had served as the Head of Commercial Vessels Protection Department of Avant-Garde. The Galle Magistrate’s Court has issued a travel ban on the suspect and he will later be produced at the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
Eight people were arrested over the Avant-Garde Floating Armoury case and four of them are currently in remand custody. This case was filed for the possession of 816 unlicensed weapons and more than 200,000 bullets aboard the Avant-Garde Floating Armoury.
