39-year-old sentenced to life in prison for smuggling heroin

Colombo (News 1st): A 39-year-old man from Athurugiriya was sentenced to life in prison by the Galle High Court after he was found guilty on two counts of possessing and trafficking 3.34 grams of heroin. The ruling was delivered by Southern Province based High Court Judge Wasantha Jinadasa. In 2010 heroin was discovered in a car that was searched close to the Hikkaduwa Bridge on suspicion of transporting drugs from Colombo to Hikkaduwa.
