A pension for overseas workers : Gotabaya Rajapaksa

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Presidential Candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Gotabaya Rajapaksa met representatives of several organizations in Colombo today (September 25). The national convention of sub-organizations representing families of expatriates began at the Sri Lanka Exhibition & Convention Centre with the arrival of Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Gotabaya Rajapaksa Presidential Candidate of the SLPP noted that one of the main expectations of those living abroad is to obtain a payment similar to a pension and with the next government, they will definitely impose a procedure make their expectation a reality. He went on to note that the main objective of their government is to uplift the fallen economy and they plan to kick start their economy by empowering the workforce of the country. The leader of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived at the location during the event. Mahinda Rajapaksa noted that they have already announced their candidate and the UNP is struggling to come up with a candidate due to a power struggle at two ends. He questioned how they could take a country forward with two fighting over power? The national convention of sub-organizations representing families of war heroes was also held under the auspices of Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Gotabaya Rajapaksa noted that he did his best every time he could and when he took over there were a number of anomalies and disparities. He added that he was only left with the introduction of a pension scheme when a soldier retires at the age of 55. SLPP candidate added that he would not let anyone or any force divide or encourage terror in the country.
