20th amendment was an opportunity to secure power-MP Sunil Handunnetti

COLOMBO (News 1st) - JVP MP Sunil Handunnetti shared thoughts on the 20th amendment in Jaffna yesterday (September 21). MP noted that the 20th amendment had been presented to the parliament for quite some time, however, discussions among TNA, UNP and Mahinda Rajapaksa regarding it deemed futile as none of them were in favour of it. He added that the 20th amendment came to light because Ranil Wickremesinghe, Maithripala Sirisena or Mahinda Rajapaksa could not come back to power. According to the MP, currently, the amendment is futile due to the upcoming election. He went on to note that they honestly consider abolishing the Executive Presidency. He finally added that they were not prepared to endure the deception brought upon the general public by the governments throughout history.
