Using state property to promote candidates prohibited

Colombo (News 1st): The National Elections Commission said, using state functions and state property to promote or defame candidates is prohibited. According to the constitution, as per the Presidential Elections Act and the rules and regulations of the Elections Commission, this is a punishable offence. However, the Commission said, it continues to receive complaints regarding the promotion of politicians at state-sponsored events. The National Elections Commission urged the public to submit complaints regarding such violations to the commission.
