Suren Batagoda summoned to the PCoI

Colombo (News 1st): The Secretary to the Ministry of Power and Energy Dr. Suren Batagoda has been summoned to the Presidential Commission appointed to investigate allegations of corruption and fraud in the present Government. He has been summoned to obtain a statement over alleged fraud at the Ceylon Electricity Board when purchasing additional electricity and fuel. K.A. Somasiri of the Presidential Secretariat has also been summoned before the Presidential Commission today to produce evidence into alleged irregularities in the purchase of electricity by the CEB. The Presidential Commission has launched the investigation based on an observation made by Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka in a Cabinet paper. It states that the Ceylon Electricity Board has incurred a loss of Rs 20 billion due to the alleged irregularities.
