COLOMBO (News 1st) – Cabinet has approved to provide permanent status employment to those who were recruited to the primary grade of the state institutions on temporary and contract basis.

Accordingly, those who had not completed the requirements of the State Administration Circular 25/2004 and 25/2004(1) along with those who were recruited for the primary grade of the state institutions on temporary and contract basis would be made permanent.

The Cabinet has approved to make the employees who had served over 180 days permanent with a pension upon fulfilment of the required qualifications before October 1st.

The proposal was submitted by premier Ranil Wickremesinghe, Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, Sports and Youth Affairs, Ranjith Madduma Bandara.
