Increased wind speeds in the southern parts of the island

COLOMBO (News 1st):- The Department of Meteorology states that the wind speed over the coastal areas of the Southern and South-Eastern parts of the island could increase suddenly. Issuing a weather advisory on heavy rains and strong winds, the department states that heavy rains could be experienced due to the active clouds over the coastal area. The wind speed could reportedly increase up to 70-80 kmph. The department urges the naval and fishing communities to take caution with the ongoing weather.
