DUI campaign : 56,478 arrested in islandwide raids

COLOMBO (News 1st):- 56,478 drivers have been arrested for driving under the influence within the past year. The police said that 252 individuals were arrested for DUI within the past 24 hours. Necessary legal measures are due to be implemented against these individuals. Within the first six months of 2019, 42,139 people were arrested for DUI, while 7406 were arrested in July. The operation to arrest drunk drivers is ongoing.
