UNF will field Minister Sajith Premadasa as the presidential candidate : Ashok Abeysinghe

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Following an event in Kurunegala, State Minister Ashok Abeysinghe said a group of SLPP members will pledge their support to the Presidential Candidate of the UNP in the future. One of the journalists reminded him that a few months ago the minister made a similar statement that several SLPP members would support the UNP presidential candidate, and questioned where are they on that now. Ashok Abeysinghe, State Minister of Transport & Civil Aviation noted that several members have already implied that they will and a majority of the parties have already signed to join them. He added that Minister Sajith Premadasa, who will be presented as the candidate of the United National Front, will definitely be victorious at the next presidential election. Journalists questioned the minister about the nomination of the United National Party presidential candidate and he responded that they expect to select a candidate during this month. The minister responded that they will hold a secret ballot if more than one candidate was nominated and they expect to request a secret ballot when the Working Committee and the Parliamentary Group Committee convene.
